1. RAID Creation
*Open MegaRAID Storage Manager. Log in using your Windows Administrator credentials.

2a) Install and Configure iSCSI Windows Server
*In Server Manager, click Manage, and then click Add Role and Feature. The Add Role and Feature Wizard opens, click Next.
*In Select Installation Type page, ensure that Role-based or Feature-based Installation is selected, and then click Next.
*In Select destination Server, click File and Storage Services, click File and iSCSI Service, and then Select iSCSI Target Server. Click Next.
*In Select Installation Type page, ensure that Role-based or Feature-based Installation is selected, and then click Next.
*In Select destination Server, click File and Storage Services, click File and iSCSI Service, and then Select iSCSI Target Server. Click Next.
*On the Feature Window, leave the default selection and then click Next. On the Confirm Installation Selection window, check the Restart the destination server automatically if required, and then click Install.
*When the installation process has finished, click Close and go for configuring iSCSI in Windows server 2016 in the targeted server.

2b) Configure iSCSI Windows Server
*On “Server Manager” windows, select “File and Storage Services” tab and then click “iSCSI” tab. Click “to create an iSCSI virtual disk, start the new iSCSI virtual disk wizard”.
*New iSCSI Virtual disk wizard will open. Here, select the server and select the volume and then click next.
*On the “Specify iSCSI Virtual Disk name window”, type name of virtual disk, and then click next.
*Specify the virtual disk’s size. Choose the disk type, dynamic or fixed, and then click Next.
*In the “Assign iSCSI target “page, choose “New iSCSI Target” option and then click Next.
*On the “Specify target name “page, type the name for the new target.
Click Next to open Access Server page. Add permitted initiators by IQN, DNS, or IP, and then click OK.
*You will see the initiator cache on the Specify access server screen, click Next
In the Enable Authentication page, you have option to use CHAP or reverse CAHP for Authenticating iSCSI initiator and iSCSI target. Click Next.
*On the “Specify target name “page, type the name for the new target.
Click Next to open Access Server page. Add permitted initiators by IQN, DNS, or IP, and then click OK.
*You will see the initiator cache on the Specify access server screen, click Next

2c) Map iSCSI Initiator on VMWare ESX to iSCSI Target
*Open vSphere, select your Host
*Navigate to Configuration – Storage Adapters
Select your iSCSI Software Adapter and navigate to Properties.
*Navigate to Dynamic Discovery and Add the IP address of the controller channel.
*Close the iSCSI Initiator properties and rescan the host bus adapter.
*Your volume will now be available for VMFS partitioning through add storage.

2d) Map iSCSI Initiator on Windows VM or Machine to iSCSI Target
*Navigate to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > iSCSI Initiator
*Type the controller channel IP address into the Quick Connect Target box and click Connect
*Navigate to the tab Volumes and Devices and click Auto-configure
*Your volume will now be available for NTFS partitioning through disk management.

3. Configure SMB for Windows Shares
*Open File Explorer
*Right click the desired folder, select properties
*Click the sharing tab, select advanced sharing
*Check the “share this folder” box, click the permissions button
*Add permitted users and their permissions, click OK
*Close the box, your folder has now been shared.
